It will be a home run, a walk-off hit, a strike out, a ground out, a pick-off, a walk or a wild pitch, and so on; there are so many possiblities that you just cant say a game has been over until the last out appears. That is why baseball has been such an enchanting sports. 

This morning I watched the live telecast of first MLB play-off game of the year.  It was between two AL wild card holders: Kansas City Royals vs Oakland Athletics.  That was a win-or-go-home game, so either team played desparately.  Athletics took the early lead by a two-run homer, but soon Royals came back from behind.  At 6th Athletics regained the lead with a three-run homer hit by the same player(wow, another Mr. October?).  After the end of 7th, Athlectic had secured a comfortable lead 7-3 over Royals.  I thought the game might have been over, so I went downstairs to have a cigarette, and then I chatted with the janitor a little bit.  When I returned, it was bottom of 8th; what? the scores had become 7-6, and Royals had just one run shy of tying the game.  They did tie the game at bottom of 9th with a sacrifice fly.  So the game went into extra innings.  Athletics scored a run at top of 12th, and they had to make only three more outs at bottom of the inning to win the game.  But Royals never gave up.  After one out, by two consecutive hits, including a triple, Royals tied the game, again.  When two outs already and a runner at second base, the 0-5 hitter of the night hit a walk-off double to end this nailbitter which had been full of cliffhangers.  Never give up, and youll never know.  That is real baseball. 

Now Royals advanced.  But I wont root for them as I did 29 years ago in 1985 when they were an underdog against St. Louis Cardinals in World Series and they won their first and only championship.  You know what?  Because the opponent waiting for them is my most favorite team: Los Angeles Angels.
