Thanks to Chen Wei-yin, a starting pitcher in rotationof Baltimore Orioles which visited New York Yankees this morning(Taipei Time), I had chance to watch  Yankees' franchise player Derek Jeter, the line-up short stop and the captain of the team, to play his very last game of his career with Yankees at the home court.  Like a scripted speech pre-written, Jeter hit a walk-off RBI single at the bottom of nine to win his last home game of the season and of his career.  It was so dramatic that no one of the soldout audience left the stadium until nearly half an hour of celebration to this legendary player was over, and after he walked right back to the locker room among deafening sound of chanting "Derek Jeter" by the fans of full house.  What a touching scene it had been, although I am not a Yankees' fan, and I don't especially admire Jeter either.

Among over forty thousand attendees, there were many celebrities came to the "show" including Hilary Clinton(I am not quite sure), Reggie Jackson(a former yankees' star, the famous Mr. October), Joe Toree(former Yankees' manager),Mariano Rivera(one of the best closer in MLB history, Jeter's former teammate), and other Yankees old pals of Jeter's.

I don't know how many years has Jeter been with Yankees, but I do know in the mid 90's when I was working in New York, my daughter was one of his fans.  You know it is almost impossible for a professional player of major sports could stay with just one team throughout his long career like Derek Jeter did because professional sports are basically run as a business, and the players are "commodites" of the clubs.  Therefore, unless a player is good enough all the time, having loyal personality, and being able to resist the tempetation of poaching from other teams, he just can not be with just only one team until he retires, not even Reggie Jackson.  That is why Derek Jeter has been so welcome and so respectable in New York.  Although I am not your fan, Derek, may I say "All the best" to you.
