(上圖:Ansel Easton Adams) Ansel Easton Adams(February 20, 1902 – April 22, 1984) was an American photographer and environmentalist, best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West, especially in Yosemite National Park. One of his most famous photographs was Moon and Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, California. A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. ~Ansel Adams A photograph is usually looked at - seldom looked into. ~Ansel Adams There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs. ~Ansel Adams You don't take a photograph, you make it. (上圖:Alfred Stieglitz) Alfred Stieglitz (January 1, 1864 – July 13, 1946) was an American photographer and modern art promoter who was instrumental over his fifty-year career in making photography an accepted art form. In addition to his photography, Stieglitz is known for the New York art galleries that he ran in the early part of the 20th century, where he introduced many avant-garde﹝藝術上的前衛派﹞ European artists to the U.S. He was married to painter Georgia O'Keeffe. An American circle of photographers later renounced pictorialism altogether and went on to found Group f/64 , which espoused the ideal of unmanipulated, or Straight Photography. (上圖:William Henry Jackson) William Henry Jackson (April 4, 1843 - June 30, 1942) was an American painter, photographer and explorer famous for his images of the American West. He was a great-great nephew of Samuel Wilson, the progenitor of America's national symbol Uncle Sam. (上圖:Edward J. Steichen) Edward J. Steichen (March 27, 1879 – March 25, 1973) was an American photographer, painter, and art gallery and museum curator. He was the most frequently featured photographer in Alfred Stieglitz' groundbreaking magazine Camera Work during its run from 1903 to 1917. -- David Ward (上圖:英國攝影家David Ward) David Ward is one of Britain's most notable landscape photographers. His eye for shape and form is without equal and produces work that is startling in its clarity and intensity. (上圖:Henri Cartier-Bresson/ 及 One of his most famous photographs) Henri Cartier-Bresson (August 22, 1908 – August 3, 2004) was a French photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism. He was an early adopter of 35 mm format, and the master of candid photography. He helped develop the "street photography" or "real life reportage﹝F.報導文學﹞" style that has influenced generations of photographers who followed. In 1952, Cartier-Bresson published his book Images a la sauvette, whose English edition was titled The Decisive Moment. --- 布列松 "The simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as the precise organization of forms which gives that event its proper expression... . In photography, the smallest thing can be a great subject. The little human detail can become a leitmotif."---Henri Cartier-Bresson "Photography is simultaneously and instantaneously the recognition of a fact and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that express and signify that fact"---Henri Cartier-Bresson "Photography is not like painting," Cartier-Bresson told the Washington Post in 1957. "There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative," he said. "Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever."---Henri Cartier-Bresson "Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst."--- Henri Cartier-Bresson 布列松被譽為20世紀最重要的攝影家之一,他提出「the decisive moment」的概念,認為攝影就是在幾分之一秒的瞬間,將事物的內涵和表現同時呈現,並且融入生活中。 |
