This movie includes many interesting dialoguesbetween the leading man, Todd, and his employees because of the cultural differences and different views for many things. If I were Todd, I would like to prepare much information about a country where planning to go. This information may cover religion, diet, festival and costume. Then I may not feel so scared or confused when arriving in the new land. I was deeply impressed by the story of this movie. As people come to a new environment, we easily compare things you’ve never experienced before to things you’re accustomed to. Then we may think these things are weird or even dislike them. But does it really conflict with something that we subjectively think it’s bad? I think that we should try to understand instead of denying before we fully know them. I also think acceptance starts from understandings. When I traced back to the movie, I found that Todd is a little bit angry while local people throw colorful bomb to him. It’s because Todd knows nothing about the festival in India, Holly Day. Then he participates in the activity and has fun as well after knowing the meaning of Holly Day. Therefore, it’s very basically to understand religion, culture and others of any countries. Once we know reasons and origins about culture and religion, we think deeply or are even willing to accept them. If we can’t still accept them then try to respect at least. |
