IEC 曾經推薦了聆聽室的參考標準

        IEC ( International Electrotechnical Commission ) 在 1985 年其出版的技術文件第 268-13「Sound System Equipment - Listening Tests on Loudspeakers」內提示建議『標準聆聽室的一般建築原則(方針)與尺寸』。

        聆聽室的寬度是 4.2 公尺，長度是 6.7 公尺，高度是 2.8 公尺，室內容積是 80 立方公尺。

        揚聲器與後牆的距離是 1.3 公尺，距側牆的是 1 公尺，揚聲器與揚聲器之間距為 2 公尺。座位與揚聲器之間距為 2.4 公尺及或至 3.4 公尺。
