沒有經過戰爭的人不知道戰爭的恐怖，沒有研究過戰爭的人不能想像戰爭的慘烈。遺憾的是，人類的記憶往往不長久，對戰爭的集體記憶尤其如此。 底下是美國著名民歌手茱蒂‧柯琳絲（Judy Collins）於1994年造訪塞拉耶佛後寫下的曲子，她從戰爭棄兒的眼光譴責了成人所發動的戰爭。 不管戰爭發動者的口號是多麼地冠冕堂皇，在戰爭中永遠會有一大批的無辜受難者，他們只能在睡夢中，甚至死亡之際才能夢見和平，夢見山丘上的小花，夢見母親的笑容，然而，一旦戰爭來臨時，是既無愛也無希望的。
