     Snowscape    Hsu ChiChen

Facing a snowscape
I am standing here
Facing a snowscape

This is a snowscape that occupies a boundless land
Which stretches to distance and infinity …

The boundless blanket of whiteness, refusing
To melt, is more extensive and expansive

Watching it I am filled with fright
Watching it I feel colder and I tremble more

A snowscape which is colder and which trembles more upon watching
A crown of white hair which brings more cold and fear

Snowscape Hsu ChiChen - I imagine that you are speaking about the snow in this poem, but at the same time I feel that you struggle with the whole idea of becomming old... please let me know if I am right, but if not, help me to understand your words which I feel are very deep and meaningful. Thank you.

Hsu's response:

Yes. You are right. You felt very deep and meaningful. From the snow to white hair is a great association. Do you think so? And still I struggle with the age. May I a stupid or a fool? I'm so stubborn! A fun!

Dear Hsu Chicheng - thank you for your kind responses. I do love that you have represented the whitening hair of old age with the snow. We so often talk about "the winter of our lives" when we talk about old age. You are a good man and I feel a great spirit in you when I read your work. Thank you. I am relieved that it is not a great sadness that you suffer from, but rather a stubbornness on becoming older. I imagine that you try to live each day for all it is worth and extract whatever beautiful experiential values you can extract from each and every experience you can still hold onto and believe in. You’re special!

Again Hsu respond:

Yes, I represented the whitening hair of old age with the snow. The socalled "the winter of our lifes "is just the old age, don't you think so?  And I'm now just as you said:"you try to live each day for all it is worth and extract whatever beautiful experiential values you can extract from each and every experience you can still hold onto and believe in." Thank you a lot.

Dear Hsu Chicheng

You are not stupid but a very beautiful person who has a heart and feelings like everyone else. Remember that no matter how old you are you are a worth while person.

Hsu's response:

Many thanks. I'll remember and do my best to fulfill "that no matter how old you are you are a worth while person. "
