Paying in Installment Hsu ChiCheng
Since our birth
Consciously, or unconsciously
We are all paying in installment
In our youth
We were unconscious of it
We were energetic, hopping and jumping
We knew nothing of the world, naïve and optimistic
We were all courage, dreading nothing
Some even took life as playing soccer
Actually not that we were not paying in installment
Until some day
We are caught with illness
We are weakened of our body
Do we realize we have to make careful calculation
But often it is too late
We lack time to make it up and to cherish
And we are in a flurry
Alas the sun slants westward
How to keep it from westering?
When we went to the doctor
How much surplus value do we still have?
How fine is the setting sun?
How brilliant is the sunglow?
Regret? Sigh? Thump feet?
Our life declines toward the tomb, and on the declining
Green leaves cannot avoid yellowing and withering
And fruit cannot avoid maturing and dropping

Paying in Installment Hsu ChiCheng - again, I read an immense struggle with aging. How values and wisdom also grow with age. Torn between the wisdom that has grown in our old age and the freedom of youth we once knew... if only we could have known and enjoyed both at the same time. I love your work.

Hsu's response:
Yes, we all have an immense struggle with aging. The life is a long way for us to experience, and we pay installment to it. We work hard in every period of it. Above all, we'll do our best at what time we are.

Age is one thing, it's not the fact that we are old, but that we deteriorate, and if we have pain or suffering in any form, that is hard, but our attitude should be the same as when we are young, to enjoy life while its here, live in the moment, never think of the future or the past as anything but decoration of the mind.
GOOD GRIEF
Good grief, how breif this life when ageing fast,
the days, the months and years, they go right past
as if they were express, we love with less of stress,
our heart beats slowing down, the light fades
for our eyes, aches and pains they multiply,
and yet we sense the dawn, the sunset, eve,
and smell the perfumes of the scene,
when nature blooms again.

Hsu's response:
Hi! It's true that "Age is one thing","our attitude should be the same as when we are young, to enjoy life while its here, live in the moment, never think of the future or the past as anything but decoration of the mind." The most important thing is "live in the moment, never think of the future or the past as anything but decoration of the mind." In short, do the best now, don't think of anything else.
