SOS What to buy? iMac or Sony Vaio PC?

As you might already know B's PC broke down about a week ago… Now it's time to get a new desktop computer. B has shopped around during those days but has a hard time to decide what to buy?

Sony Vaio looks stunning and iMac is beautiful too, but apart form the design, on the user's point of view which one is better? Or say which one is more suitable for someone editing photos and running a website?

Are you a current user of Viao or iMac? Would you share your experience with B? Telling B what are the advantage and the disadvantage of those two systems(content)? B will appreciate your helpful comments. Many many thanks in advance...

使用一年多後的心得報告

娶回新Mac OSXv10.5 Leopard 24”桌上望，從此眼清目眀拒“毒”舒適兼平安。 Chinese input一級棒，從此不用手寫板；只是偶而衝太快會卡得像是死翹翹，讓人白忙一遭。呵呵。。。幸好只是昏而不翹，休身養性後可從容開機再續飆！旅人世界 & B's 心眼 - 遊賞世間美的人、事、物...究境一探,是否真的"物以類聚"？

iMac is a good fun, I like it so far..... I got Skpye and e-mail installed without any problem. The only thing I need to learn now is : improve my Chinese typing....

Hey, I got my 24" iMac this morning (tired of waiting longer, just buy it and figure it out slowly...). My husband is busy to install it now.... hopefuly he won't want to play my iMac instead of his own Notebook? Let's see when will be the first article produced from this new iMac? It's Vanessa (KHH). I vote for Sony. They just win the battle of blue-ray. It'll be better to stay with their system, plus with good quality of screen.

So far I haven't found one Sony Vaio at shop to compare with iMac, so still hesitate between Vaio and iMac.

Yesterday my friend lent me her notebook, so at least I can go on the internet now (but can't key in Chinese). I have time to do all the studies before buying, no hurry to get a new PC...

MacBookPro 算了

頭昏啦？

乾脆別買桌上型，改用 Notebook 吧。預算豐富，考慮 17" MacBook Pro，硬體好、還可以同時裝 Windows 及 MacOS，想用哪個作業系統時就用哪個

I saw an iMacBook Pro today at shop - truly a practical one, although I was more seduced by the newest iMacAir A4 format. Since I don't need a notebook for travel, so I prefer a desktop with bigger screen to play with.....

In the end may fall for 24" iMac.... but your every suggestion has worked through my head as usual. Many thanks again!

Vaio VGC-LT2S, I found it on Sony Swiss website, so far have seen one at shop, most shops present only Vaio Notebook and other desktop pcs. What I should do next? Try to find one and check out how Vaio VGC-LT2S works....

Yesterday I was fascinated by iMac's demonstration at the shop, if not beaause of 相容problem between the rest of my hardwares and iMac, I would have placed the order right there.

All your feed back were deeply appreciated and important to me. Many many thanks again to all of your kind efforts.

* We have all B&O at home, so I don't need Vaio for watching TV; but perhaps need the Blue-Ray for recording?

iMac當PC用

There's another option: 如果妳喜歡 iMac的硬體設計，但是有軟體相容性的考量或是不習慣Mac的系統，可以用內建的bootcamp去install Windows。現在所有的新型Mac電腦都是intel based，可以將硬碟分隔出一塊來run Windows，這樣一來，就和用PC沒兩樣，只是盯的是 iMac的螢幕，用著刻有蘋果的鍵盤和滑鼠，有空時還可以開啟Mac系統來玩玩。

It's just an idea and I have seen people doing it.

I am deeply touched by all of your feed back! What the magical friends!? Today another salesman showed me a bit how iMac works, it seems so easy and practical. I'm fascinated and willing to learn+try out its different features, but at the same time I also discovered that my "old" printer, scanner, penpower(to key in Chinese)....may not function with iMac?! 硬體設計都很讚，軟體可能是選擇的關鍵

自家的桌機是白牌，上不得檯面。不過幾年前用過Apple的NB（iBook），現在背的則是VAIO，硬體設計都很精彩，可說不分軒輊。當年頭一次拿到A4 size, 不滿兩公斤的iBook，真正愛不釋手；而目前手邊這台VAIO更只有一公斤出頭（剛剛又被MacBook Air比下去），技術規格的演進讓人眼花撩亂。

如果不是技術狂熱份子，考量自己的需要和習慣比較實在。不同系統的操作方式，總會有些讓人唉聲嘆氣的差異，需要時間去克服。懶得花那種力氣的話，照舊就好了。

我家老爺用了近二十年的pc

最近改用蘋果。只能說，如果身邊沒有一個懂蘋果的人可以幫忙或指導，真會搥心肝唉唉叫啊～從耶誕節抱回來一個蘋果至今，唉聲漸漸少了（將近三個月的摸索？每天掛網十多小時！），甚至有時還會聽到說，咦，這個設計真的不錯哩。

用蘋果的人不是我，我只是來串門子說廢話的啦！
