作詞：Cecil A. Spring-Rice, 1918. 作曲：Thaxted, Gustav T. Holst, The Planets, 1921 原先是首英國古老民謠。 西元1918年,在經歷了1914-1918年的戰爭之後, 英國Cecil Spring-Rice爵士寫下了這首詩. 詩詞的前段是慰念那些在戰爭中為國捐軀的英靈, 第二段則是描述對天國的渴望. 1921年,作曲家 Gustov Holst在1916年作的交響樂 行星組曲(Planets Suite)中的木星Jupiter 第二樂章中優美高貴的旋律,就與這首詩結合起來.
