嬌妖芍藥花，
嘲笑匐伏松。
我可舞春風，
博得眾人寵。

人來採花去，
霜來萎葉莖。
伏松仍青蔥，
經秋復歷冬。

Peony and Juniper

The peony blooms with big and beautiful flowers,
because of much fertilizer and care.
She laughs at the humble and homely juniper;
he just be prone and prostrate there.

The master comes
to cut off most of the flowers.
A storm comes
to crush the remainders to the dirt.

The juniper still be prone
and prostrate there.
