致 主 編 ( I ) A Letter to the Editors (I)
Dear Editors: Some of the fameless works are really priceless arts. Even my worst verses are polished to spark. They are to win prizes or awards, not your laughter and sneers. The best are for you to publish to the world. The rest are for me to polish, more years. I was a communist scientific man on the Chinese mainland, escaped for my life to the Nationalist regime in Taiwan; from a white-collared sinner to a blue-collared scholar, from a laboratory leader to a monitored member. However, I enjoyed freedom and human rights; hence, I started writing to record and describe: What I look at, laugh at, love and like; part of my hopes, hates, thoughts and sighs; a sage’s philosophies, feelings, a nut’s sex and life; some saint’s wonders, sorrows, nerd’s searches and delights. Now I submit to you. Hope you may have a look. They are catalyzed : by angels’chorus cheers, but devils’ thunderous threats. They are crystallized: from barrels of tart tears, and vessels of sour sweats. I can’t speak and write with English without some errors; these verses may be not terse, but rather absurd. If you are willing to give them some masterly retouch, they might be near perfect, or less awkward. Perhaps you may wonder why and how I dare to show off all my flaws, here and now. One reason is: no more to worry, no longer be sorry; the others are: for some noble, global -- probable causes. Kosherly yours, Kuo-Pen Yung
The candid candidate of
some hearty pats on the back, hopefully will not get some hard kicks in the butt. PS: One can’t cast a single, thin line to seek in the vast, deep sea; then pray and wait… pray and wait… until perish – No fish! That’s why I cast my big and thick nets into both the high sea and blue sky. Maybe it’s easier for me to catch either a squawking swan, or a slippery sea lion. Maybe both of them for frolic and fun. My sincere hope. Many thanks More, then... Nope? Fun! |
