悲苦莫名後的喜不自勝

事情發生在一個盛夏的午後。

一切來的是那麼的突然。

那天，青春少艾的兒子和我先打完後九洞後以四十比四十八的杆數遙遙領先。他九個洞能打出兩支柏蒂（－１），我倒是打出四支雙博忌（＋２）。

我的感覺像極了苦海女神龍的唱詞：“拖著沈重的腳步，要走千里路途“，一個身體 exactly 身不由己。要球左曲它向右彎，要球右曲它向左彎，ok 順它的意思隨它彎吧它又給我直起來。神經病啊？你這麼乖張我怎麼打？到底誰該聽誰的啊？一場球打得這麼辛苦，我招誰惹誰啦我？

好不容易熬完後九洞到第一洞去開打。又來了，不是雙博忌就是三博忌。七個洞下來我又憑添了十二杆，整天下來至此方才一個帕！我高本衲今日在此身敗名裂死無葬身之地！我意已決你們誰都別想攔我！

來到球場最長的三杆洞第八洞，全長２３１碼。風自右往左吹，球道略微下坡，適合打右曲球。問題是我今天什麼曲球也打不出來，儘打滾地球。怎麼辦呢？向右一點打個直球吧。我也沒把握球會直或彎，事到如今也只好“隨緣“了。

抽出三號木杆準備妥當後奮力一揮，球筆直出去了。勁道足高度夠，飛行線看來很好，我放心了。收杆走向杆袋，兒子隨即叫道：“You are on the green.“

這在今天的我來說是頂了不起的。能上果嶺就好，反正太遠我也看不見。

兒子始終目不轉睛，忽然叫起來：“...Watch out!“

Watch out 什麼呀？

又過了一會兒他說：“I think your ball disappeared.“

大概滾出果嶺了吧。反正今天人在綏，即使一杆打上去它也不會讓你好過到那裡。我沒有幻視幻聽。

第七洞一個日裔美人正好打完走上前來，要求一起打。我欣然同意。

此人名叫艾瑞克，揮杆動作不俗，想係“會家子“。

可惜他和兒子都沒開上果嶺。

三個人走向果嶺時，眼看上面一個球也沒有。

我開始往果嶺後頭走去，打過頭是唯一合理的解釋。兒子走到洞邊，往裡一探，叫道： “No way!“

艾瑞克面露異色，兒子彎腰撿出我的球，至此我知道自己一杆進洞了。

正是：如如不動，妄念不生，福德圓滿，心想事成。我高本衲今日修成正果乃指顧間事耳，眾卿切莫兀自多禮，快快平身可也。起來起來，都起來～

一陣騷動過後三個人繼續打五杆的第九洞，wobei 兒子跟我都打帕。艾瑞克打博忌。

一天下來兒子八十五杆算是 ok，我以九十四杆作收真可謂“無顏見江東父老“。

很像電影“阿瑪迪斯“裡的情節：不世出的天才為何生在一個小鱉三身上？

生平首次一杆進洞為何出現在九十四杆的成績單裡？

悲苦莫名後的喜不自勝千滋百味，哭不出來就笑一下吧。

回家時畢竟還是喜滋滋的，感覺確實不賴。這是我有生以來的第一支 ACE，第五次擒鷹。一個洞打出低標兩杆叫做 eagle，所以三杆洞一杆打進也是 eagle。

氣體神合一，再接再勵，OORA！

註：雙鷹－albatross，低標三杆。老鷹－eagle，低標兩杆。柏蒂－birdie，低標一杆。帕－par，平標準杆。博忌－bogey，超標一杆。雙博忌－double bogey，超標兩杆。三博忌－triple bogey，超標三杆。四博忌－quadruple bogey，去死算了。

兒子培養打職業

看來他條件很好只要願意走這條路我想比別行好很多，當然配得上雅妮。最近因退休後，來洛彬磯打球一星期打三場不一樣球場比台灣好。你皃子機會很大要靜下心研究想，必可成功。

小孩子的將來一看他的資質二看他的造化，嚴格講還是自己得肯努力。
來美後才真正知道人生不全在讀書上求得成功的真義。
Chuck 看來是愛打球的人。高爾夫裡蘊藏太多人生道理，一輩子也學不完。

球場上的距離標示算到果嶺的那裡？

Question: Are Yardage Markers Measuring to the Front of the Green or Center of the Green?
The yardage of any given golf hole is reported on the scorecard and usually on a marker at theteeing ground. The yardage is also usually marked at various points within each hole - for example, from 200 yards out (from the putting green), 150 yards out, and 100 yards out. Many courses also put yardages on sprinkler heads or other objects found in or alongside the fairway. But are these yardages measuring to the front of the green or the center of the putting green?

Answer: Assuming the golf course is using the correct procedure for measuring hole lengths, all yardages given are to the center of the greens.

Almaden, 妳完全沒有瞭解到這是一場多麼不對稱的戰爭。
這不但是年紀上五十幾歲對二十幾歲的中老年對青少年之爭，也是經濟上兩百五十元對五千兩百元的訓練費之爭，還是身高 172 對 185 之爭，又是“培養你幹嘛”對“栽培這小子有希望”之爭，更是“暖身四小時為了打球”對“打球四小時為了暖身”之爭，和“老娘嫁你可不是為了看你打球”對“兒子，媽媽以你為榮”之爭。
而本衲在無比逆境中排除萬難力爭上游的表現妳完全視若無睹，現在還叫我去與女子一爭高下！
這樣對嗎？
也罷，諺云：“壽則多辱”，看來本衲唯有自求多福，以成績單交代一切。正如我不時交代小子的一句名言：“你輸我我很高興，你贏我我更高興，either way I am winning“。

但你這張照片等於沒照。很吊人胃口。

逆光時，相機感應後面天空的光源，所以光圈會太小，臉會黑，所以這時要開閃光燈，除非你是拍剪影。

葉子姑娘啊，本衲已非青春少年英俊小生，妳怎能還有胃口，我又拿甚麼吊啊？會羞死倫喔！快別吊了，這把年紀只求不倒人胃口即已我佛慈悲了。妳就...放我一馬吧？

二三十年前的舊照看起來倒還可以。只不過，記得尤雅唱的歌：“時光一去不復返，往事只能回味”嗎？新照片雖然發黑，至少比舊相片泛黃來的逼真寫實。人家真的有打閃光燈啦，啊高爾夫打太多人就會發黑嘛，我怎麼知道拍出來它就醬子！

倒是應該看看盹龜雞在美國玩得意興遄飛容光煥發的樣子，我們在聖塔克拉拉一起吃過飯，母女倆都美到不行。女婿也青春可喜，很像電影"Mummy"的男主角。

一桿進洞

我常常在想, 那麼小的一點小桿頭, 要去敲一粒小小球, 要拉高到某個正確的弧度, 才能對準球道, 打正都不容易了 , 還要剛好入洞 , 那怎麼可能 ?

所以一桿進洞是該請客 , 來平平我們這些外行人的氣 .

盹姊的意思我知道。

一杆進洞需要點運氣，但技術可以幫忙。
只要將球打在洞口附近機率就會大增。老虎伍滋生涯已 ACE 十五六次，這還是比賽，平時不算。曾雅妮也有五六次了。
有個名將說過：“我的球技越佳，運氣也就越好“，旨哉斯言。

看來你的中年危機比我嚴重！嘿嘿！ 我很喜歡中年危機理論，或是借口，它使男人得到解放，哈利路亞！

Golfing – 我是遠遠沒有到nuts的地步，以前偶爾與同事提早下班，下午兩點開溜，天黑之前還可以完成18洞，金融危機之後大家都收斂許多，那種美好的日子已是昨日黃花。

船 – 買過三條，也賣了三條，所以我快樂了六次。(因為NJ的氣候，船的養護比較麻煩，所以有一種說法：船主有兩天最快樂 - 買到的那天和賣掉的那天)。可是現在又在想下一條，或許小一些，可以放進車庫的話可能會好些，至少冬季不用煩惱。飛機 - 早已停飛，怕跌下來，而且有時在天上蠻孤獨的。船可以停下來與魚兒玩玩，飛機可需要隨時小心。而且我很喜歡清晨駕小船在湖上漫遊，那時世界一片寧靜，湖面上瀰漫著一層水氣，遠山迷朦，非常令人陶醉。

是的，當板主需要投入相當多的時間，但是我可以用零碎的時段，彷彿是對時間的「廢物利用」，golfing可需要一整段的重要時段(prime time)，那正是我的困難；racquetball就相對的容易達成了，我去的球場從早上五點開到凌晨兩點，相當容易安排時間。你的部落格很有內容，同時也演變成戰場，也許這正是成功的危機(crisis of the success)?

You won't believe how difficult it is using MacBook to input Chinese fonts!  Besides, somebody used the mouse as a weapon and threw it around house out of frustration thus damaged it.  Try keying in Chinese font on a MacBook using the touch pad with all the non-PC clumsiness!  Pardon my unnutural English, as it is at the moment so much easier to type and write to you.

Why is it that your life is always better than mine?  Ever since chilehood you got to swim and dive in creeks while I had to do summer homework.  You get to pilot your own airplane whereas I had to ride in Eva airlines.  Your boat is larger than mine and your house has a basement, too!

And you don't seem to have mid-age crisis!  This is not right.

Golf is where I shine.  My son and I played consistently, any time someone would play in the 70's.  I think finally I found at least one talent that I can have.  This thing is deep.  I can understand now that why people would spent thousands of dollars going around the world to places just to play golf there and doing nothing else. 

This blog has a life of its own, I am merely a maintainer.  UDN is kinda "open to the public", therefore controversies are inevitable from time to time.  I tried to first of all maintain a unbiased view of things, second, push my ideals and third, try to promote the kind of life philosophy that I deem as decent and appropriate.

I do have to fend off unhappy individuals and their transgressions from time to time but in comparison to the priceless result that is trivial.  This is another area that I naturally shine, I was born a writer in any and all languages, and that was a given.

That was me, not trying to trick you. 

I played golf a little, mostly in the driving range for maintenance, not nearly as committed as yo are. NJ's climate prohibitive is my excuse, there are plenty of golfers around NJ, therefor it is more of me not be able find the fun and sensations in the golf. during warm season, there are plenty pf other things occupying me, hardly able to allocate few hours free time to chase the balls in the field.

Sure, e can play sometime, have to be on my turf - when you come to NJ next time.

That's great.  I didn't know you've been a golfer as well.  This sport is time consuming, more so mentally.  My mind dwells on it all the time.  Now my son is doing the same at the tender age of young twenties.

I seem to always have a way to find time doing things I like.  Sometimes I feel blogging takes up even more time.  California is probably a little warmer than New Jersey, I still remember your house with a large basement where you wrestle with your kids, ping-pong talbe and everything.

How time flies! That was a year before 911, and we got to visit the Twins Tower.  It's been a decade just like that.  But then that was a good 18 years from the first time I visited New York.

Brother, what are you doing now?  I saw you playing racket ball still with respectable agility.  Good for you.  You are one who's always on the move.

Recently it seems like I've been in touch with old friends and relatives coming back from China, South Africa, Thailand, Australia, etc.  Hey people have more time now when they get older.  I didn't know where they've been through the better part of their prime time, but decades past and everybody appears to be not too different from their earlier selves.  I remember you catching little fish and small shrimps in the creek that winds through your old house, and now you are still catching fish -- off your power boat!

We should get together sometime before long.  Kids grew up then moved away, wife grew older but they stick around, we ourselves gew older and we are not going anywhere.  Now is the time for change.  We do move, we go around, we jive!

Nice talking to you over here in my blog.  I'll catch up with you a little more either in your blog or on FB.  Hey this old dude isn't too far off the fad.

But not as trendy as you, bro.  Still diving in your single engine plane?  I bet BASE jumping must have crossed your mind from time to time.
