Mine eye and heart are at a mortal war
我眼與我心，對決以死戰，
How to divide the conquest of thy sight.
卿影既俘虜，瓜分如何談。
Mine eye my heart thy picture’s sight would bar,
不欲心得見，此眼須阻攔，
My heart mine eye the freedom of that right.
不欲眼獨攬，此心自由關。

My heart doth plead that thou in him dost lie,
我心則答辯，卿在其心肝，
A closet never pierced with crystal eyes;
密室藏心內，明眸難視穿；
But the defendant doth that plea deny,
被告卻反駁，此求欲推翻，
And says in him thy fair appearance lies.
說卿風華姿，眸裡坐臥看。

To ’cide this title is impanelèd
歸屬為表決，而組陪審團，
A quest of thoughts, all tenants to the heart,
推舉眾思緒，心內居民參，
And by their verdict is determinèd
千頭萬緒後，最終裁決判，
The clear eyes’ moiety and the dear heart’s part,
明眸應得份，權狀真心佔：

As thus: mine eyes’ due is thy outward part,
是以歸我眼，外貌卿所展，
And my heart’s right, thy inward love of heart. 
是以歸我心，內心情意涵。
