What
I feel about what the Chinese government did to punish Tang Wei, the
leading actress in that film, is that the true guilty one has
not yet been brought to justice although a convenient patsy has
already taken the blame.

Q:
if you were Tang Wei, what would you do to get yourself out of
trouble?

A:
if I were Tang Wei, I would hire a tough, smart, and experienced
lawyer immediately, telling him or her what really happened from the
very first beginning until the end of making that film. If my
lawyer told me that a lot of wrongdoings were found and that my legal
rights were illegally infringed during the making of that movie, then
I would have my lawyer sue the director and his company for
fraudulent practice and sexual harassment( remember? Sexual
harassment is not about sex. It's about power. In this case, he
absolutely had paramount power and I didn't)

I
would bravely disclose the undisclosed scandal without hesitation.
The best way to disclose this scandal, I believe, is to resort to
law. If the director made mistakes, he must pay the price. He
can't get away with wrongdoings. In a democratic society, no one
should be above the law. Even a President, if committing a crime,
should be put in jail after he finished serving his term as
President. Besides, I don't care win or lose, because I believe
that I and my lawyer, during the litigations, would be able to let
the truth of how he deceived me come out. Moreover, an actress suing
her director for fraudulent practice and sexual harassment would be
cool. It would be an unprecedented breakthrough in this business.
It would make both of us even more famous than ever before.

A
lawsuit would also help let my government realize what really
happened in making that movie.   Once my government knew
how the director made that movie from the very first beginning until
the end, I might be able to get myself out of trouble.
Besides, a court decision would also help create related guidances
for people in this business to follow thereafter.

Q:so
you believe she would be better off if she disclosed this “scandal”?

A:in
my opinion, I think it's absolutely a bad idea for her to avoid
facing this issue.   She and the people surrounding her
must understand that why her government made a decision to punish her
and that if her government plans to boycott every movie she starred,
then eventually all producers and all film-makers would not want to
hire her to star any movie any more.    It doesn't matter
whether she is in Beijing, in Hong Kong, or in Hollywood.
Because right now nobody wants to piss China off and most movie
producers ,aiming at the huge market in China, will do what they
could to make China happy in order to sell their products there to
make money.

Accordingly,
if she wants her career to continue, she must let her government know
what really happened, because as of today her government as well
as the vast majority of the people in China might still wrongly
believe that in order to keep the opportunity to become a “movie
star”, she, as a “cinderella” in this business, voluntarily and
aggressively performed all kinds of extremely salacious actions to

please the director.    It is imperative that
she must let her government know what really happened.

Q:
before suing him, do you think Tang Wei should appreciate her
director for his “cultivation” to lead her to stardom?

A:Not
at all, let me repeat, not at all. T
hat
he “cultivated” her is the most absurd and idiotic remarks I have
ever heard in this business. No, she became what she is... I mean a
lot of people are familiar with the name-Tang Wei, is because (1)she
starred a movie directed by an extremely popular and severely spoiled
movie director in Chinese-speaking world. Because of this, every
movie he directed will always draw huge attention from the media.
Anyone starring his movie would most likely have at least his or her
name become known to many, many people. and (2) she, as a rookie
actress, performed extremely graphic sex scenes in a movie based on a
story written by a well-known and much-respected author, absolutely
not because he “cultivated” her.( could you tell me why did he
have to “cultivate” her?) Therefore, e
very
rookie actor or actress, if given the same opportunity, would
probably produce the same outcome.
  In my opinion, even
if she did not perform these pornographic actions, she would still be
what she is today (actually she would have been much much better, had
she refused to perform the adult film actions).

In
addition, she needs to understand that everything about selecting
actors and actresses to fill in the roles in a movie for any
filmmaker is based basically on whether the actors or the actresses
he picked fit the role in the script.
If she did not fit in terms of her acting skill
and her overall looks on camera, it would be impossible for her to
get the job to be the leading actress,no matter what, because no
director would want to take the risk to mess up his reputation and
ruin the box office.

Selecting
an inexperienced leading actress to fit the role in the screenplay is
not easy, because she is not a “proven product”. Some actresses
with pretty good acting skills may be not pretty enough on camera and
some actresses with pretty faces on camera may lack pretty good
acting skills.
Believe me,
some people might criticize the leading actress for this and that,
but if the director thought she did not fit the role she played, he
wouldn't “cultivate” her or give her any chance to ruin his
business, even if she begged or bribed the director or promised to
sleep with him.

He ga
ve her a chance to star that movie simply because
she was the one he wanted.
It's a business decision in the
interest of him, not her. Now, did he cultivate her?

Besides,
for a mainstream movie actress, getting naked completely to perform
extremely pornographic actions on big screen absolutely is a big
deal, because the mainstream cinema, unlike adult film, has much
bigger broad-based viewers. Once performing extremely graphic sex
scenes on big screen, actresses are more likely to get hurt than to
get praised, particularly for the rookie actresses, because most
people would think that in order to become a “movie star”, these
“Cinderellas”, once grabbing the opportunity, would do what it
takes to become famous. After becoming famous, they would be in a
good position to make easy money. That's why a lot of people don't
treat them with respect. It might even cause more damage to their
image and reputation if something went wrong after the movie was
released.

This
is a hypocritical world. On the one hand a lot of fans want to see
these actresses getting naked and performing sex scenes as aggressive
as they can. On the other hand if they did, fans tend to lose a
certain degree of respect for them. This is a fact that has been
existing in this business for many years.  That's why a
lot of actresses, regardless of how promiscuous their private life
is, firmly decline to star movies which require them to expose their
sex organs to perform pornographic actions. As a senior director
in this business, he should know that it is much easier to do more
harm than good for a rookie actress to perform unbelievable sex
scenes in her debut.

Accordingly,
If he really wanted to “cultivate” her, then he should avoid
having her perform extremely obscene actions like that. For a
rookie actress, the first part to show the audiences in her debut
should be her fresh overall looks and her acting or something else,
absolutely not her private part.
I wonder whether he knew what
to do to take his directing career to the next level if exposing male
and female genitals and having his actors perform graphic sexual
intercourse were not allowed. If that's the case, then what type of
director he really is?

There must be reasons why the private part
is called private, not public. Why didn't he let her keep her
private part private in her debut? Was he a pervert? Was it the
way he should do to “cultivate” her? If he insisted that he had
to show us what “lust” is all about, then he probably needs to
consider starting making porno movies. I think with his tremendous
talent, imagination, and creativity, he would make a great adult film
director. I also would like to know whether he would let the
"rapist"(actor) violently perform sexual intercourse to the
"victim"(actress)if he plans to make another movie to be
filled with rape or gang-rape scenes.

In
order to express the ideas of the novel on which the movie was based,
this “international well-known director” unethically chose the cheapest way
to “cultivate” her, that is, let the leading actor and the
leading actress get completely naked and fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck
in different positions and fuck with different facial expressions.
I wonder whether he was arrogant, because he seemed to assume that
the audiences did not know what fuck should look like and what coitus
should feel like. Was he making a porno movie? Were they porn
stars? Remember? This was a big screen movie. This was a movie
supposed to be rated “R”, not XXX. There is a line between big
screen movie and adult film. That line is clear, not blurred. He
certainly knew what they performed will never be allowed to appear
even on a NC-17 movie, but why did he still push them to do it? Did
he ever respect the rules and the laws? Did he ever care about their
dignity? There must be reasons why Tony Leung, the leading actor,
had a lot of complaints after finishing his job.

What
he did in making this film obviously was not pushing the boundaries
of art, but challenging the laws. He showed tremendous greed and
selfishness, caring only about his own interests and accomplishments.
He treated her with no respect at all. To this great, great,
great director, Tang Wei was nothing but one of his pawns on the
chessboard. That's it.

Widely considered a sex symbol in
Hollywood, Sharon Stone had never performed actions like that
throughout her career. Even a sex symbol like Stone still did not
perform actions like what Tang Wei did, why did he push and brainwash
her to do that? Did he think she is a humble and ignorant rookie
actress from China, so he can do anything to her at will? Was this
his way to “cultivate” her?

What
he did to her in her debut, in my opinion, was absolutely immoral,
disgusting, shameful, offensive, destructive, malicious, devilish and
inexcusable. He literally destroyed a rookie's image and
reputation as well as her career. Not long ago, a certain part
of their graphic sex
scenes have been posted on a pornographic
website.
It means they have been portrayed as “porn
stars”.
Now do you still believe the BS- “he cultivated
her”? Making this movie, he let us see his true colors.

To
be continued...
