your tool is too small

Does size matter? Well, it
depends.

Yesterday I had a flat tire on
the side of the road.  It was the second time in about 8 months.
Last time when I experienced the same trouble, I had no difficulty
changing the tire myself. With a 14-inch 4-way lug wrench in the
trunk, I believe I can change a flat tire for most cars in a very
short period of time.   I seldom use the OEM lug wrench provided by
the car's manufacturer, simply because it's a joke.  It's a
powerless tool.   It doesn't work well.  There is a Chinese
proverb that says in order to do a good job, one must have
a good tool.
According to my experience, my 14-inch cross lug
wrench is a much better tool to loosen the lug nuts than the OEM's.

But it was not the case
yesterday when I drove a different car with bigger tires than the one
I drove last time when I had a flat tire.  I didn't know whether
it's because of the size of the tire or because of the stubborn lugs,
no matter how much effort I made, I just couldn't remove them.  I
was very frustrated not because I got stuck on the roadside but
because I was incapable of fixing the problem with the tool I trust.

Unable to figure out how to get
out of trouble by myself, I called 911 for help.  A woman answering
my phone call told me that the policemen render no service to help
fix such problem but gave me a car towing company's phone number.
When I was about to call the company, a black man came.

Do you need some help, man?”
The guy was about 40-something, 6'1” and 180 lbs.   He looked
athletic and appeared intimidating.  His bushy goatee around his
mouth as well as his tattoos all over his arms and his neck made him
look like a thug and a bully.  He was that type of man a lot of
folks would get scared if seeing him at midnight.

Yeah man, I just can't
remove the lug nuts with my wrench, no matter how hard I tried. I
don't know why I couldn't take them off.”

Let me give it a try. “
The guy didn't pick up my wrench to do the job.  Instead, he walked
back to his Chevrolet Suburban to look for something.  After
taking out a very, very big cross lug wrench from his large SUV's
cargo room, he started working on my tire with his tool.

It's just amazing to see how
easy it was for him to loosen the lugs with his oversized lug wrench.
What baffled me was that he didn't even put a lot of force while
performing this job. The guy quickly took all five lug nuts off
the rim and was about to jack up the car.

Wow,
you look very professional !  Your wrench seems to be a lot more useful
than mine. ”   I praised him and raised my question.

Do you know why?   Because
my tool is much bigger than yours.  You know the longer the arm of
the wrench, the more leverage you have.  The more leverage you
have, the more mechanical advantage you gain.  More mechanical
advantage gives you more turning power. That's how leverage works
and that's why a bigger lug wrench makes this job a lot easier.
Size matters, man !  Your tool is too small. “   The black
“thug” grinned.
