1. 谷神不死，是謂玄牝。
無形無像的神靈必須與天道同在才能永生不死，萬物來自道的創造，所以祂被稱為至高的創造者–宇宙之母。
The intangible and imageless spirits must reside in the Word of Heaven in order to have an eternal life, all lives were made by him; thus, the Word of Heaven is called the highest Creator - the Mother of the universe.

2. 玄牝之門，是謂天地根。
這位至高的創造者之門戶，就是天地的根源。
The gateway of the highest Creator is the origin and foundation of heaven and earth.

3. 綿綿若存，用之不勤。
祂在開闢天地以前就若隱若現的存在並一直化育萬物，祂淵遠流長取之不盡用之不竭。
He indistinctly existed before heaven and earth were made and kept nurturing all lifes; his infinite and unlimited resource is endless and inexhaustible.
