1. 致虛極，守靜篤；萬物並作，吾以觀其復。
追求心靈淨明到最高的境界，持守平靜和諧到極致，我們就能從萬物的蓬勃生長中，觀測出生命復活的真理。
Pursue spiritual purity and brightness to their highest level, hold harmony and peace to their ultimate degree. Then from the vigorous growth of lives, we should realize what is resurrection.

2. 夫物芸芸，各復歸其根。
萬物芸芸衆多，然而到頭來每一個生命都要回歸到自己的根源。
Even though lives are abundant and multitudinous, yet each life will eventually return to its original state.

3. 歸根曰「靜」，靜曰「復命」。
回歸根源等於回到平静安息，平靜安息後生命就會復活。
Returning to its original state is equivalent to resting in tranquil peace. After resting in tranquil peace, lives will then resurrect.

4. 復命曰「常」，知常曰「明」。
生命復活乃是自然的規律，認識自然的規律會使人聰明有智慧。
Resurrection of lives is the law of nature. Understanding the law of nature will make one wise and intelligent.

5. 不知常，妄作，凶。 
不認識自然的規律，就會胡做妄為，最終引來災禍。
Failing to understand the law of nature will drive one to act viciously, consequently end in calamity.

6. 知常容，容乃公；公乃全，全乃天。
認識自然的規律使人內心包容，內心包容引領人追求公義；追求公義使人變得完善，完善之人會與天合一。
Understanding the law of nature will help one tolerate and forgive, toleration and forgiveness will lead one to pursue righteousness. Pursuing righteousness will make one perfect; perfection is equivalent to uniting with Heaven.

7. 天乃道，道乃久，沒身不殆。
與天合一等於與真道同在，與真道同在等於住在永恒裏，即使肉身生命死亡，靈命也會與天父同在永恆不滅。
Uniting with Heaven means living with the Word of Heaven, living with the Word of Heaven means living in eternality, although the flesh will perish yet the spirit may imperishably unite with heavenly Father.
