Study Note about William Wordsworth

        As a leader poet in romantic period, Wordsworth found the poetry in neoclassical is too artificial and too restrained in people’s original expression, so he and Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote a represent collection of poem “Lyrical Ballads” in order to change the type of poetry. His work such as the aubiography “The Prelude”, sonnet “The World Is Too Much with Us”, and meditative poem “Tintren Abbey”. Wordsworth worthships the important and powerful of nature and human being should not be repress their own passion, like one of title of his poem “I Wander Lonely as a Cloud”.

        In some aspects we also can discover Wordsworth has a mind to contain pagan even wants to be as same as them. Like one of his poem “The World Is Too Much with Us” says:

              I'd rather be A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn

             So might I, standing on this pleasant lea

             Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;

            Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.

Nature is the main theme of Wordsworth’s literature thinking, and in his another poem “The Table Turned” is directly presents the anti-intellectualism and primitivism thinking:

             UP! up! my Friend, and quit your books;

             Or surely you’ll grow double:

             Up! up! my Friend, and clear your looks;

             Why all this toil and trouble?

        Wordsworth expounds the thinking that people should put down books and walk into nature to learn more from the environment. It also replaces the traditional wisdom and philosophy in his works.
