Theme: This story portrays Dr. Rockys survival and growth through the experience of a plane crash on a deserted island. It combines elements of native tribes, strange flora and fauna, and suspenseful conflicts, showcasing the intertwining of humanity with nature, tradition, and modernity.
Story Synopsis The Crash and the Deserted Island
Dr. Rocky, a kind-hearted and skilled physician, is part of the humanitarian aid organization "Doctors Without Borders." One day, while on a small plane to carry out an international rescue mission, the plane flies through a dense metallic-colored cloud, encountering a severe storm with thunder and lightning. The aircraft loses control and crashes on an uncharted, mysterious deserted island. When Rocky emerges from the wreckage, he finds that he is the sole survivor of the crash.
The environment on the island is extremely harsh. The dense jungle is filled with bizarre plants and animals, with towering trees that reach the sky and vines coiled like snakes everywhere. Rocky discovers a type of giant plant whose leaves emit a faint glow at night, allowing him to navigate in the dark.
As time passes, Rocky must learn to survive in this unknown environment. He makes full use of the resources from the plane wreckage and combines them with wood from the beach to create simple tools. With these, he catches fish, shrimp, and shellfish, hunts small animals, collects rainwater, and learns to identify edible plants. He finds a tree called the "Phantom Tree," whose fruits provide substantial energy and can even temporarily alleviate hunger. However, consuming too much of the fruit causes hallucinations, forcing Rocky to carefully manage his intake.
One day, while traversing the dense jungle, Rocky is bitten on his left hand by a Mamba snake coiled around a tree. He notices black blood seeping from the wound and realizes the venom is spreading. Acting quickly, he tears off part of his sleeve and ties it around his arm to slow the spread of the poison. Just as he is on the brink of collapse, he spots several Trillium plants, knowing they can neutralize snake venom. He uses a sharp knife to cut open the wound and squeeze out the black venom, then chews several Trillium leaves and applies them to the wound. Enduring the stinging pain, he stumbles out of the jungle and collapses on the beach, drifting into unconsciousness until the glaring sunlight wakes him the next morning.
Feeling both hungry and thirsty, Rocky searches for a coconut tree, knocks down a few coconuts with a long pole, cracks them open, and drinks deeply to quench his thirst. Later, at the edge of the jungle, he discovers several fruit trees bearing egg-shaped fruits. He picks one, peels it, and smells a buttery aroma, judging that the fruit is safe to eat. After taking a small bite, he finds it delicious, sweet, and fragrant, so he gathers a few more to eat. His hunger quickly subsides, and he notices that the snake bite on his hand has begun to heal rapidly, forming a scab. He thinks to himself that this fruit is not only nutritious but also aids in detoxification and accelerates wound healing.
One day, while exploring deep into the island, Rocky accidentally stumbled upon a hidden native tribe. These natives, completely unaware of the outside world, used ancient tools and techniques, referring to the island as "Paradise Island." They were terrified of Rocky’s appearance, believing he was an ominous sign, and captured him, taking him back to their village.
Rocky was imprisoned in the tribe’s cave, but through observation and learning, he gradually understood that these natives had their own unique culture and beliefs. They worshipped the strange creatures on the island and believed that the forces of nature controlled their destiny. The tribe’s high priest, Alpha, was old and wise, often reciting prayers and using divination to decide the timing of important events for the tribe, such as planting crops and hunting.
The Display of Medical Skills and Acceptance
Suddenly, a plague swept through the native tribe, causing many of the tribe members to suffer from fever, fatigue, and skin ulcers. The tribe’s priests were unable to cure the illness, only able to alleviate the symptoms slightly using traditional herbs. As a modern doctor, Rocky immediately recognized the illness as a severe infection and attempted to request permission from the tribal leader, Sanmias, to help treat the sick.
At first, the natives were skeptical of Rocky, but after he used basic medical knowledge to treat a severely wounded tribesman and successfully prevented the spread of infection, he gradually earned their trust. He used the medical supplies from the plane and plants found on the island to concoct medicines, eventually controlling the disease. Among the plants he discovered was a “blue vine,” whose sap could be extracted for its anti-inflammatory properties.
The tribe began to accept Rocky, viewing him as an "outsider healer." Even High Priest Alpha slowly acknowledged his presence, seeing him as a gift from the gods. Rocky seized this opportunity to learn about their medical traditions, exchanging knowledge with the priests, and sought to combine modern medicine with ancient wisdom. The priest’s daughter, Diana, a skilled huntress proficient in archery and spear-throwing, was highly impressed by Rocky’s vast knowledge and gradually developed feelings for him. Meanwhile, the tribal chief’s daughter, Nicole, who had always been fascinated by herbs and minerals, eagerly requested to learn modern medicine from Rocky and stayed by his side constantly, also developing romantic feelings for him. Both women subtly competed with each other, each hoping to win Rocky’s affection.
Rocky taught Nicole modern clinical techniques, allowing her to assist in surgeries. Nicole learned how to anesthetize patients, use hemostats to stop bleeding, suture wounds, and apply dressings. She accompanied Rocky as they foraged for herbs and minerals, analyzing their properties and uses, eventually producing penicillin, antiseptics, and various medications. Nicole trained a team of nurses and assigned them tasks, gradually turning the tribe’s cave-based hospital into a fully functioning clinic.
Diana, in her efforts to win Rocky’s favor, not only prepared his meals daily but also ventured into the jungle to hunt deer and wild boar. She personally crafted a complete set of leather clothing and boots for Rocky from animal skins. Her attentiveness did not go unnoticed by Randall, a fellow tribesman who had long harbored feelings for Diana but had never found the right opportunity to confess his love.
During the process of treating the tribespeople, Rocky gradually discovered that this island was not just the home of the natives but also concealed more incredible secrets. One such secret was the presence of a creature known as the "Nightshadow Bird," which emitted a low, eerie cry at night, and its appearance was said to herald danger. There was also a species of "Bone-eating Worm," which would silently infiltrate deep into the jungle, invade animals bodies, and gnaw at their bone marrow. The affected animals would lose mobility, becoming nothing but a mass of blurred flesh.
Rocky heard from the high priest Alpha about the "Dragon Valley" on the other side of the island, where an ancient city ruin, considered forbidden territory by the tribe, was located. Around the valley, there lived creatures with the heads of horses and bodies of dragons, known as "Lightning" by the natives. These creatures were the guardians of the ruins and would drive away any human intruders by grabbing them and throwing them into the distant sea to drown. Rocky secretly decided that one day he would explore this area and uncover the secrets of the ancient city.
At the same time, internal strife began to arise within the tribe. Some tribesmen were dissatisfied with Rockys presence, believing that his modern medicine undermined their traditional beliefs. One warrior, Lando, who had long harbored feelings for the huntress Diana, noticed that she had become cold towards him since Rockys arrival. Viewing Rocky as his chief rival, Lando secretly conspired with the dissenters to expel Rocky, triggering conflict and discord within the tribe.
■ Challenge and Adventure
As the internal conflict between the two factions intensified, Lando, not wanting to see the tribe split or its people killing one another, proposed a "gentlemens agreement" with Rocky: both would venture to "Dragon Valley," and whoever could first tame a dragon and ride it back to the tribal square would be the victor. If Rocky lost, even if he survived Dragon Valley, he would be forbidden from ever setting foot in the tribe again. If Lando lost, he would likewise be banished, forced to live in solitude on the beach.
Despite Nikos warnings, Rocky accepted the challenge. Diana, admiring Rockys courage, volunteered to act as a guide, leading him to Dragon Valley. Rocky carried a bag of "milkfruit" to sustain himself and replenish his energy. Lando, Rocky, and Diana split into two groups and arrived at the valley separately. Lando, agile and quick, climbed the cliffs and set his sights on a robust blue dragon with a thick mane, waiting for the right moment to ambush it with a lasso.
Meanwhile, Rocky and Diana, unhurried, approached the mouth of a cave guarded by several dragons. One dragon with a golden mane appeared lethargic, but from its size and sharp eyes, it seemed to be the leader of the group. Rocky instinctively judged that the dragon was either injured or poisoned. The dragon hissed at Rocky and Diana, warning them not to come any closer. Rocky raised his hands to show he was unarmed and began speaking in a soothing tone to calm the dragons nerves, slowly approaching it.
Upon closer inspection, Rocky noticed an arrow lodged in the dragons left wing, possibly poisoned, with the wound already blackened and festering. Rocky gestured to the dragon, signaling his intention to help remove the arrow. Understanding his intent, the dragon extended its injured wing, allowing Rocky to approach. He carefully cut open the wound with a knife, extracted the poisoned arrow, and immediately squeezed some milkfruit juice into the wound. He then offered the dragon two more fruits, which the dragon accepted and ate.
After consuming the fruit, the golden dragon closed its eyes and appeared to relax, as if relieved. A short time later, the dragon opened its eyes, gazed at Rocky, and rose to its feet, bowing three times in gratitude. Diana, now standing beside Rocky, congratulated him on securing a mount.
The scene shifted to Lando, who had successfully lassoed the neck of the blue-maned dragon. Startled, the dragon flapped its wings and took flight, dragging Lando into the sky. Afraid to let go, Lando clung to the rope to avoid falling into the deep valley below. Seeing this, Rocky gestured to his golden dragon, signaling that he would ride it up into the sky to rescue Lando. The dragon nodded, growling softly as it crouched, allowing Rocky to mount its back. The dragon then spread its wings and soared into the sky. Rocky grabbed hold of Lando and pulled him onto the back of the golden dragon. Though shaken, Lando now wore a look of shame, having been rescued by his rival.
When Rochi and the three dragons returned to the tribal square, they found the entire village eerily silent. As they pondered the situation, Nicole appeared and informed them that they had been gone for an entire year since they left for Dragon Valley. The three were astonished, as they had only spent a day in the valley and underground palace. Nicole explained that shortly after they left, a group of giant human-faced bats appeared on the island. Under the cover of night, they sneaked into the village and drained the livestock of their blood. Afterward, members of the tribe began to fall ill one after another. The chieftain, the high priest, and other elders succumbed to the disease, and the villagers could only cremate the deceased on the beach to slow the spread of infection.
Upon hearing Nicoles account, Rochi immediately suspected that the outbreak might be caused by a coronavirus. The three followed Nicole to the village hospital inside a cave. Rochi donned a mask and carefully examined the patients symptoms in the ward, confirming that it was indeed an ancient coronavirus infection, parasitizing the human-faced bats on the island.
Rochi recalled the golden tome he had found earlier and input a series of queries in English, asking about the transmission and treatment of coronaviruses. The tome quickly provided answers, instructing him on how to develop vaccines and antiviral drugs. With the full assistance of Nicole, Diana, and Lando, Rochi first crafted glass containers, and soon after, both the vaccine and special medicine were successfully developed. The coronavirus outbreak in the tribe was effectively controlled, and the greatest crisis in the tribe’s history was overcome. The giant bats were driven away from the island by the youth hunting squad led by Lando and Diana.
Using the knowledge from the ruins, they uncovered the source of the islands epidemic—an ancient coronavirus carried by a species of bats. With the help of the golden tome’s medical knowledge, Rochi and Nicole successfully developed a vaccine and antiviral medication to combat the virus.
■ Conclusion: Rochis Choice
Throughout this adventure, Rochi not only saved the tribe but also reevaluated his own path in life. He realized that he had formed a deep connection with this land and decided to stay on the island temporarily. His plan was to continue exploring the wisdom contained within the ruins while helping the tribe establish a way of life that integrated traditional and modern medicine. |
