小Y問我在工作上的問題 四天來的總結:  

Leader, 翻成中文是"領導", 指的是"帶領" 和"引導"吧!

許多人希望自己在專業上被肯定, 而又期待經理專業上要比group memebers 強, 這種矛盾不健康, 容易造成摩擦. 經理專業上比自己不懂是正常的, 經理專業上比自己不懂,工作才有保障.

經理最重要角色, 是找出正確的方向, 帶領大家步向成功, 就能照顧好大家了!

經理最重要的技巧, 是溝通, 輔助group memebers把各項案子做好, 而不是幫group memebers把事情做好.

經理, 是任務取向, 擔心人的問題, 擔心技術的問題, 不須擔心錢的問題!

好的經理, 通常是在類似領域成功過, 有足夠的管理技巧就可稱職了!  

再上層的管理, 開始擔心產品何時該創新, 並開始擔心預算, 人員的比例, 安排. 軟硬體的增加, 更新 "Cash in, cash out" 是從此階層開始的

更上層的管理, 需樹立文化, 或以短期營利為目標, 或以長期經營為目標. 擔心市場, 業務, 競爭對手, 玩更大規模的 "Cash in, cash out" 例如股票上市, 併吞, 合併等等.

你問我: ?讀關於企業領導人的書有用嗎?? 

有益, 但不是升經理時用的. 有句名言"You better understand what your manager want; even better, if you can understand what your manager's manager wants that would make your manager look really good."

談領導與管理的書太多了,當然,有些技巧或原則是可以學習的,但往往「人」的因素影響更大。例如,很多成功的領導者都具備一些人格特質,而甲的特質放在乙的身上,卻又未必能夠獲得一樣的成功,這還需要環境、機運等等的配合。如何才能成為一位成功的領導者,實在不容易說得清楚,即使說得清楚了,也未必人人都能辦得到。

我的主管說一個好主管應該要懂得"鼓勵與激發"他ㄉ member, 因人人性情不同,所謂"因材施教",讓每個同事能在自己的本分裡發揮所長,我很高興跟對了這樣的主管!

Love your footnotes!

You brought up some good points.  In the production and whole sales, it is one kind of business.

In trading business, import/export, that is another beast.

For lots of business managers, the most important thing is to win the war, not a battle.  You summed up pretty well.

Agree, but just add some footnote
1. In a project team, ( maybe short term project such as research & promote one cell phone  ), team may contain guys from different deps such as PP, PE, RD, Marketing, Laws, Financial dep. and etc. there will still be a team leader, but the main function of this leader is "To coordinate", The professional skills of tech , Financial.. could be the second consideration.
2. In an fixed or simple function department, ( such as Exporting, or some other small but pure function ) . The leader should have better skill and professional skill / concept about this function , in this department. This leader need to teach & help her / his members to improve avg. ability to ensure and arise the performance.Of cause, this boss still need to elevate herself in different way if her want to be in a higher floor :P
3. Thus, To be a good leader , one should have different abilities in different position, this ratio between "Internal, personal professional skill" and "External, communication and integrate ability"  will not be same all the way
4. Reading some books of high level manager (Jack, Bill, even Trump ).. is good, it helps to enlarge our view, but we still need to remember to start from the first step. : )
5. 歷史上,戰役成功的項羽最終還是敗給戰略成功的劉邦,蓋因"專業能力之格局"不同也
