Short Essay Writing Practices Series were written for my niece, who needed to attend the exam for entering colleges in Taiwan. (三) Taiwan's Wildlife Taiwan is an island country, which has been famous for a variety of wild animals and plants. Formosan Landlocked Salmon (櫻花鉤吻鮭), for example, is a special species of fish that can only be found in Taiwan. The largest land animal in Taiwan, Formosan Black Bear (台灣黑熊), is another Taiwan's only species wildlife. Besides these, Taiwan has 450 different species of birds and many other wildlife that are so rare and valuable that the government has enacted conservation laws to protect them. According to a recent report in 2008 , some British wildlife tour specialists recommend Taiwan a great place to go wildlife watching because the island has one of the highest concentration of birds in the world, six national parks, and some amazing landscapes to take in. Wildlife in Taiwan now plays an important role not only as an indication for environmental protection but also as an attraction to international tourists. Thanks to the effort which the government and people in Taiwan have done to protect the wildlife during the past years, Taiwan has proven itself a terrific place to live and a fantastic place to visit. |
