一般人提到英國歌星的橫霸美國就想起披頭四，
其實在披頭四之前，就有好幾位英國歌星登陸新大陸，
其中又以姵圖拉克拉克（ Petula Clark） 最早。
姵圖拉克拉克生於1931年，其隨即嶄露頭角，
常與另一位童星茱蒂安德魯絲一起表演，
被稱爲英國的秀蘭鄧波兒。

1960年姵圖拉克拉克開始到法國演唱，1961年在巴黎結婚，
婚後，她的歌唱事業在歐洲開始走下坡，
她的經理人安排她到美國發展。
1964年以一曲“Downtown”大受歡迎，
在美國流行歌曲排行榜上榮登后座。
姵圖拉克拉克在60級70年代的美國歌壇風靡了許久。
