The novel Ferryman is a story that centers around life, death, and true love. Its main character is a teenage girl from Scotland named Dylan. While she’s traveling by train to meet her father, the train crashes and she passes out. When Dylan wakes up, she is in a dark tunnel and everyone else on the train has vanished.

She crawls out of the tunnel and sees a boy waiting for her. The boy tells her his name is Tristan and that she has died. He explains that he’s her ferryman. It’s his job to help her get to the afterlife and to protect her from evil ghosts.
