(Retiredbum notes:  Why is corruption one of the most serious maladies afflicting modern society?  It is because widespread corruption will not only erode the finance of a country but also, more importantly, shake peoples confidence  towards government, and , further threaten the legitimacy of the ruling group and the stability of society.   

Unlike democractic countries, where influence peddlings exerted by interest groups are less overt, Mainland China is more of a "caged" one, politically and economically.  It could be less difficult for her to tackle with the ill of corruption: the stringent regulation and the resolution to do it
