In China's Mainland When "premier" is referred without indicating who the premier is, it must be Premier Zhou Enlai. To my observation, he is the most memorable and least controversial statesman since 1949. Today(Janunary 08) is his 41st anniversary of his death. Let's see why his deeds are so unforgettable and his personalities are so laudable.

周恩來

我認識的周恩來是從大陸各種歷史紀錄片，及電視劇譬如：鄧小平留法傳記中看的，確實給我「男神」的印象，甚至比男神還好。

但是不可否認，他最終受到毛澤東的 ill treatment, 讓我也替他委屈。從紀錄片中，我看中國能夠進聯合國，似乎周恩來居功至鉅？不過當時有毛澤東在，所以周恩來的功勞也不能渲染。是不是這樣，只是我的觀察。

周恩來

遵義會議前，周恩來（當時位比毛高）與無實權的毛澤東密談超過一小時，
勸毛澤東出來領導瀕臨被滅的共產黨。
這次談話沒有記錄，兩人終生也絕口不提談話內容。

此後，周恩來終其身有默契而無二心的輔佐毛澤東。
他最有名的話是：『誰反對毛澤東，我就反對誰。』
因為他知道他所託的是最佳人選。

Zhou's most photogenic picture in the album, I think, is the one in KMT uniform when he was only 26 and was the chief political officer in Huangpu militay academy. So in contrast to his supporting Mao later in 遵義會議, we could assume that if Chiang Kai-shek didn't betray Dr.Sun's doctrines, nor brutally purge communists in 412 incident, Zhou might have assisted Chiang like he had done to Mao for all his life. (In that case, Chiang would have been the person whom Zhou could trust in.)
