Starting A.M 0200 EST March 10th, people of the continental U.S.A must move the time one hour forward as to accomodate the so-call Daylight Saving Time until the end of October. Report said the reason for implementing such a system is to encourage people enjoy more sunshine, as well as to save more energy consumption. I don't know if it works, but it will not only affect people's life of home, but affect the activities of other countries(e.g. international fight schedules). Report also said over 60% of poll stand for abolishing the system and urge White House seriouly consider the proposal. As far as I am concerned, I'd rather discuss the Chinese translation about the term. "Saving" here is a participle, not a gerund, so in translation it should be a verb instead of a noun; therefore, "節約"日光時間 would be better. Furthermore, the word "save" as a verb can denote "avoid wasting something", meaning "節約" all right. But another meaning of "save" denotes "keep something", "保存" or "留存" in Chinese, would make much more sense here. So I prefer to use "保留"日光時間 as the rendering of Daylight Saving Time.
