Circulating online recently there was an open petition to White House that calls for US' overt and favorable support to Taiwan that Taiping Island in South China Sea is an island rather than a rock.

Dear islanders of Taiwan, are you stupid enough as to implore the government who rigged the whole conspiarcy behind the scene to change its mind?  The farce is just as absurd as you are asking a robber to return the loots to you.  Have you forgot what the humiliating petitions you did in 1978-1979 for begging US not to desert you when it had decided to sever deplomatic tie with ROC or Taiwan, whatever.

Remember, as long as China's Mainland carries a great clout over South China Sea, Taiping will always be a de facto island.  If DPP administration intends to forsake Taiping or try to lease it to US and Japan, China will take it over immediately without the slightest hesitation.  Therefore, Taiwan'd better have recourse to China's Mainland if it truly wants to safeguard the "island".

P.S.  Please pay no attention to that so-called "the smartest woman of Taiwan", Chen Wengian, and ignore the petition she triggered.  Just don't sign it!
