Report said a LANCOME-sponsored singing performance in Mainland for a Hong Kong female singer was cancelled mainly because Mainlander fans boycotted her.  Report also said the singer had participated in "Zhanzhong" activity, but the boycott itself had little or nothing to do at all with China governments, and it was a spontaneous reaction from angry fans, so LANCOME had to succumb to its potential clientele in Mainland. 

Then came forward that pony-tailed rock singer and legislator to defend her against such an "injustice".  He said Taiwan has a population of almost five Scandinavian countries combined, so singers don't have to rush into China where they think it's the only place for making money; thus, come to or stay in Taiwan he concluded.  He must have hinted that there is a big market in Taiwan and people in Taiwan are as rich as Scandinavians are, and they can afford the tickets.  Is that really so? 

The other day when finished our dinner in Dalian or in Qingdao, I noticed a neon sigh showing outside the restaurant.  The sign said "help(waiter, waitress, receptionist) wanted, monthly salary 4000-6000, with accommodations".  That meant the salary is equivalent to TWD20,000 to 30,000 in official conversion, a not bad level in Taiwan.  I asked the tour guide if that's the average standard for a non-technical job like that, and the answer was positive.  Then the tour leader, a leader specifically touring Mainland, told me that according to his experience when RMB compares with TWD in purchasing power, it should time 10 to reflect its true value, that means subject salary will have a purchasing power that is equivalent to TWD40,000 to 60,000 in Taiwan.

Now we've got the answer.  Young urban people constitute the majority of the audience in pop music show.  Now Taipei is at most a second-tier city in China, then why shouldn't those musicians rush to a much, much bigger market with same consumption capability, if not stronger, for the sake of their own pecuniary interest?  Politicians of Green Camp, please stop deceiving yourselves as well as other islanders.
