San Francisco Giants won World Series

The long MLB playoff in nearly one month finally ended when San Francisco Giants third baseman, that "Kung Fu Panda", caught a pop-up foul ball to make the last out at the bottom of nineth in game seven of World Series.  Although I prefer Giants to Kansa City Royals in the matchup, I am not particularly thrilled at the outcome because there is always a champion every October, each year( If my favorite team LA Angels won, that would be different to me.)

But such an attitude of nonchalance is not for American people, especially for Giants fans.  They rejoice, they celebrate, and they even riot as to give full vent to their feelings, including discontent or pent-up fury.  Baseball, as well as other professional sports, has become some kind of culture of America, that means those sports are important parts of their lives.  Long time ago I read a report that when a resident of Boston was asked what is his biggest aspiration he wanted to do.  Guess what was his answer to the question?  He said he wish he could live long enough to see Boston Red Sox win another World Series after 80 add years drought.(I dont know wether that guy lives long enough or not as to see Red Sox has won the championship three times in 21st century.)  I also read a report that even the president of United States must personally thwart a possible strike launched by MLB players union to prevent the crime rate from rising during a long summer time without baseball games.

Will Taiwan be able to cultivate a similar baseball culture?  Maybe, if the island could regain its economic boom to support adequate teams of high class, say at least of AAA level, and the league could survive for a long time.  But the prospect seems a little bit bleak to me.

Back to MLB.  Congratulations, San Francisco Giants!
