Walking around the sidewalks in the community or pathways of the park nearby in the evenings for at least thirty minutes is one of my daily activities as an old guy in my late 70s. As a mild exercise, walking should be one of the safest; however, a latent danger may be in there: dog(s). You dont have to meet a dog to experience the danger. Often, I have been scared by the loud barking of dogs from the houses I passed by. Therefore, you must have a healthy heart to protect yourself from those sudden startles when you walk alone. I hope my heart can stand it. Usually, when I see people walking the dog in my direction, I will step down from the sidewalk onto the road lest the dog should attack me. Yesterday evening, I met a woman walking her cute puppy toward me in the same direction, and I did not shun it because I thought that puppy would not harm me. I was wrong. That little thing suddenly barked at me with all its might. Subconsciously, I dodged it so quickly that I almost tumbled on the sidewalk. Its master apologized at once, but what if I did fall and injure myself? |
