Not long ago, I watched a video that showed a student of Zhongzheng High School(That is right, the school named after Chiang Kai-shek.) smacking his teacher repeatedly, for the latter tried to rectify his improper behavior in the classroom. The video also showed that other students, boys and girls, all acted indifferently like the violence was not their business until finally, a boy student dragged that rogue out of the classroom. (That rogue still kicked the door from outside.) Several days ago, I read the title of a piece of news that a Fudan graduate hit his professor at the commencement, but I did not pay more attention to the details. Yesterday, I learned from a newsletter of the Liberty Times that the person involved in the incident is a law graduate from Taiwan, and Fudan has decided to punish him with expulsion. The funny thing was a majority of the responses to the news had been urging DPP to offer that guy a lucrative job. The two cases may have been an inevitable outcome to the education of Taiwan since the DPP administrations gave up the traditional teaching of the "Four Norms" and "Eight Virtues" in schools. They are another kind of the so-called "pride of Taiwan." |
