I found a brief article online today in which the author criticized the "minister" of foreign affairs for using the double negative expression "We ain’t no idiots" in his tweets,  thus making Wu himself and Taiwan laughing stocks, or real idiots.

Im not sure, but the usage could be considered an informal expression in American English or Black English to say something that the speakers consider positive. (Another example: no nothing)  Maybe Wu was just trying to cater to his America dad and vulgarity.
