Notes from Retiredbum: Someone sent me this collation of words yesterday. Well, I guess one of my Chinese teachers in junior high, who and her sister were editors-in-chief of 國語日報, can read and write all of these words or idioms correctly. How about me? I may do nearly the same if I concentrate on them, being allowed to ponder on them a little bit before I give the answers. When DPP in the office, that minister of education, a partisan on Taidu, strongly urged that students should avoid using those handy, "hackneyed" Chinese idoms in writing because in so doing it would be detrimental to peoples "creativity" in thinking. In fact, he was trying to eradicate one of the essentials of Chinese culture out of the bottom of our next generation, and what he said had been just politicians sophistry which is not worth of arguing about it. Go ahead have a test by yourself, and use them whenever necessary. They are powerful, and more importantly, they are our words! 恫嚇(賀) |
