Ling Dingyang is the sea located east of Macao and south of Zhu Delta. In 1278 when Wen Tianxiang of Song Dynasty lost the last battle against Mongolian army and was captivated, he wrote a famous poem on the ship sailing over the sea. 文天祥 過零丁洋 辛苦遭逢起一經,干戈寥落四周星。 Over eight hundrend years elapsed, now China inaugurated today the worlds longest bridge over the sea, connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao. (President Xi already hosted the ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday.) The bridge is as long as total 55 kilometers, including a 5.6km immersed tunnel of which the deepest is 46 meters beneath the sea level. Report said the bridge deserves a new miracle of the world, that is the combination of hundred of most advanced technologies at the cutting edge of enginnering. Can you imagine such a long "dragon" swimming sinuously over the vast sea? The success will accelerate the plans of the bridge connecting Liaodong Pennisula and Shandong Pennisula, and the bridge across Qiongzhou Strait to connect Guangdong and Hainan. How about the bridge over Taiwan Strait? Maybe it has been scheduled in the timetable already. China will neither panic nor lament any more. |
