Edit By: Emmy / Irene Liu Title:The World in the Palm <Scene I> (Lucy liked the music and walked onto the stage with a camera and a brochure in her hands.)扮仙戲 15’ ’ Puppeteer Grandson: Yes! It’s a puppet theater. (Grandson wiped his face with a towel.) Lucy:But, the structure is so different from that of my country. It’s more colorful, more elaborate, but smaller. Puppeteer Grandson: Smaller?! I think it’s as big as the universe. Any intriguing story may happen on this stage. By the way, I’m Patrick. What’s your name and what are you looking for? Lucy: I’m Lucy. I am a French stage designer and I have come here to search for innovative ideas for my creation. Puppeteer Grandson: Hey, grandpa, this is Lucy. Lucy, this is my grandpa. Puppeteer Grandpa: Nice to meet you. Lucy: Grandpa? It seems that you are from a performing family, just like Michael Jackson’s family. <Scene III> (A cosplayer stands beside the puppets,下北管音樂, cosplayer becomes alive.) Lucy(startled):It can move? It can even dance! But? It is a puppet? Lucy: Hello! Are you a puppet? Cosplayer:(走位到Lucy面前)Yes! Originally, I was just a piece of ordinary wood far away in the mountains. It was those puppeteers that brought me to life. Due to their skillful manipulation, I can move and even dance like a real person. Lucy: You are so handsome and well-dressed, looking like an exquisite artwork. Can I take a picture with you? Lucy: Can I touch you?(Lucy pulls the cosplayer’s clothes.) Cosplayer: Hey! Be careful. It costs a lot. Cosplayer: Play? No! It’s my weapon, not a toy. Cosplayer: Shu~ here come my masters. <Scene III> Lucy: May I ask you someting? Grandson: Shoot! Puppeteer Grandpa: In our times, it was performed mainly in religious ritual to show people’s gratitude and respect to the gods. It was even used as a means to make government orders and policies public. Puppeteer Grandson: But, nowadays it’s more entertaining than educational. To attract more young people to enjoy our shows, more advanced special effects are added. Puppeteer Grandpa: Advanced? I don’t think so. It totally ruins our traditional arts. It becomes nothing but a ridiculous play. Puppeteer Grandson: Ridiculous? You should be more open-minded. And it’s a good way to make young people get involved in our traditions. Lucy: (Rap) Add new elements, but keep the old; Those are silver, these are gold. New-added elements, like new wine, Grandson & Grandpa: New is good, but Old is best;
