第八天，環島行已完成三分之二，經過成年儀式的洗禮，

相信孩子們對親情、友情及對這片土地的認同感，會有不同以往的感動。

經過昨天的成年禮，見到許久不見的親人，大家都很感動，雖然長時間騎乘很累、很辛苦，每天早晨都要早起面對當天艱難的路程，但看到爸爸媽媽的笑容，鼓舞了我們疲憊的心。 

工作人員帶領我們暖身出發，路上交通混亂，每個人都在努力和路上所有的車輛保持安全距離。幸好有警察叔叔主動幫我們指揮交通，當我們離開台南時，警察叔叔們站在台南和嘉義的邊界跟我們say goodbye。

一路上，風景不斷變化，從一個繁忙的城市環境到清爽的鄉村環境。因為道路的車輛眾多，讓大家都不得不集中精神在道路上。當身邊的同學打瞌睡時，我們會設法講笑話，讓大家打起精神專心騎車。午餐時間，後壁高中的同學十分熱情，為我們舉行了一個小型的搖滾音樂會。最後，我們到達了著名的北迴歸線。全部十年級拍了一張大合照，每個人都想在圖片裡留下紀念，相信這張照片，會成為我們永恆的美好回憶。  

After yesterday’s Coming of Age Ceremony, everybody was extremely homesick because they would have to endure yet another week before they can finally see their family members again. Today is the eighth day of the biking trip, and everybody is both mentally and physically drained. Every morning is a struggle because we all have to wake up early and prepare for the obstacles we have to face later on. Breakfast today was as always simple but wonderful, and then we were all prepped up and ready to head off to Chiayi county. Our counselor announced the schedule for today as we were warming up for the day. The traffic was chaotic and everybody was constantly separated due to all the vehicles and intersections. What really surprised and touched us was how the police officers consistently held off all the traffic for us to pass through safely. When we were leaving Tainan, some police officers stood on Tainan and Chiayi’s border, and bid us farewell.

今天晚上的晚餐是夜市之旅。有大約3個小時的時間去填補我們飢餓的肚子，當然，每個同學都要去品嘗著名的嘉義雞肉飯，飯香肉軟嫩，令人回味無窮。

從台南到嘉義的旅途上，我們經過繁忙的城市和美麗的鄉村。在忙碌的城市中，我們被南部同胞的熱情所感動，一路上他們一直鼓勵我們。沿途經過的風景，讓我們認識到台灣這塊寶島是多麼珍貴。我們都被所有台灣人的熱情所感動，也終於理解了台灣有多美，多壯觀。

Along the way, the scenery changed dramatically from a busy urban setting to a refreshing countryside backdrop. All the rice paddies looked exactly the same, which was soporific, so we all had to be focused on the road. Whenever some of us were about to doze off, someone would manage to crack a joke to lighten us up. One aspect of the trip today that we were all familiar with was the “Beetlenut Avenue”, which is basically bettlenut shops scattered across a street. Finally, it was lunch time and to our surprise, their school held a miniature rock concert while we ate in their gym. We almost joined them on stage, but time wasn’t on our side. To our surprise, there was a reporter that was interviewing other students. We were stoked about the fact that we would be on national television, so we ran towards the reporter. Before we headed off, the reporter encouraged us and wished us all the best.

Finally, we reached the famous Tropic of Cancer, which separates the world in quarters. We took a group photo and we were all rushing to the front because everybody wanted to be in the picture. After the picture, everybody hastily went to get their bikes because they wanted to get back to the hotel and go off to the night market, which was the last event on our schedule. We had about 3 hours for ourselves and we all split up to fill our empty stomachs with delicious Taiwanese food, such as the famous Chiayi chicken rice. “The movie KANO was filmed at the roundabout on the end of the night market street. There’s a statue of a person hitting a baseball. It was magnificent to see that because I’m a huge fan of the film KANO.” said Catherine, our 10D classmate.

After this trip from Tainan to Chiayi, we passed by busy cities and gorgeous countryside. In the chaotic cities, we were touched by the peoples’ passion because they kept cheering us on, and held off traffic for us. As for the countryside, the scenery was breathtaking, and it made us realize how beautiful our hometown is. In a nutshell, we all were touched by the Taiwanese peoples’ love and also finally comprehended how amazing our hometown Taiwan is.
