---------------------------------- Do you believe in miracles?Yes, I believe in miracles. Since I was little, whenever I had a stomachache, felt unwell, or lost something, I would pray. Not long after praying, the pain would go away, my body would feel better, and even the lost things would be found. I have always believed that it was God helping me. Although my parents are not Christians, my father often encouraged us to go to church. Every Sunday morning, he would take some money from the safe and tell us to bring it to church as an offering. Throughout my growing years, God has always been my greatest support and has allowed me to experience many miracles. The greatest miracle of all was my journey to study in the United States. At that time, my father’s business had failed, and our family had no money for me to study abroad. My mother’s youngest sister had agreed to be my financial guarantor, so during my last year of college, I worked hard preparing for graduate study overseas — taking the TOEFL, applying to schools, and asking professors for recommendation letters. However, just when I received an admission letter and was about to apply for my visa at the American Institute in Taiwan, my aunt suddenly changed her mind and refused to be my sponsor. My dream of studying abroad was shattered. I had no choice but started working at an accounting firm, but I did not lose hope. I kept praying, asking God to help me achieve my dream and to open a way for me to receive a scholarship. At that time, and even now, scholarships were usually offered only to students in fields like physics, chemistry, or literature — never business. Because there are more things to research in those areas than in business . But I kept praying and believing that God would make a way. One day, my college classmate Jenny called and asked if I wanted to visit her friend Yue, who had just returned from the U.S. I had met Yue once or twice but didn’t know her well, yet I decided to go. During our conversation, Yue mentioned that she had been studying in university of Akron in Ohio major in accounting. She said U of Akron is famous for its program in Polymer Science . Her brother in law went there for a PHD in Polymer Science and her sister went with her brother in law so she decided to go there too . Yue and I are from the same school , same year , same department in college , but her sub major was international business and mine was accounting so we don’t take classes together and don’t know each other much . Yue told us she had received a scholarship there. It was a school I had never heard of, nor had I ever imagined that such a scholarship could exist. After I went home, I immediately looked it up, submitted my application, prepared all the required documents, and continued to pray earnestly. Half a year later, I received a letter from the university stating that I had been awarded a full scholarship! Not only was my tuition completely covered, but I also received several hundred dollars each month as a stipend. I was so overwhelmed that I knelt on the floor and thanked God for His amazing grace. When I arrived in the U.S., I learned that my scholarship was a research assistantship, requiring me to work several hours a week for a professor. To my surprise, my professor turned out to be a devoted Christian. The topic he assigned to me was church accounting! Since it wasn’t a complex subject, my workload was light, and I had plenty of time to study. My scholarship covered my tuition, housing, and living expenses. During those two years, I had almost no financial burden. I came to America with only a few hundred dollars, yet I completed my degree peacefully and without lacking anything. All of this went far beyond human planning — I knew it was truly God’s miracle. Of course, there have been many other miracles in my life as well. I still remember once driving through a railroad crossing. Normally, there would always be a barrier that came down whenever a train passed. But that day, the barrier did not lower! I was chatting with my sister on phone as I drove when suddenly a train rushed past right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes just in time, stopping right before the tracks. My whole body trembled as I kept thanking the Lord for His protection. The next day, I went back to check, and sure enough, it was the only time that barrier had ever failed to come down. I knew God had saved me. Another time, I was boiling water to cook noodles when a friend came to pick me up to get my car back from the repair shop. I left in a hurry and completely forgot to turn off the gas stove. On the way back home—after being away for nearly 30 minutes—I suddenly remembered the pot still on the stove. It was 15 minutes away from home when I suddenly thought of it . My heart pounded, and I prayed desperately for God’s protection all the way home. When I opened the door, I found the water had almost completely boiled away, yet the pot hadn’t burned, and no fire had started. If I had returned just a few minutes later, it could have been a disaster. I immediately knelt down and thanked God for His mercy and protection once again. These experiences have made me firmly believe that miracles do not only exist in Bible stories. They also happen in the lives of those who are willing to believe and to pray. For me, faith itself is where miracles begin.
