同事派克上上周末嫁女兒，和女兒開舞的歌曲選了這首“I Love Her First”，歌詞充滿父親對女兒結婚時刻依依難捨的心情。派克有三個孩子，二女一男，結婚的是大女兒，三十一嵗，在小學當老師。派克是個愛家的好男人，每年都會請大夥去他家兩次，一是夏季 BBQ 烤肉，一是冬季聖誕派對，他太太瑪麗是個典型的家庭主婦，雖然外表看起來像他媽媽，但慈祥賢慧，派克在公司職位很高，工作忙碌，但兩人常帶孩子們旅行，從我進公司以來，單單看他們去夏威夷就不下五次。

前天去參加一個成大校友會的活動，在一個校友家聚餐及飯後演講，演講的題目是介紹新發明的洗腎機器。讓我想到父親2009 年去世前洗腎兩年的痛苦經驗，記得我回臺灣陪他去醫院洗腎時，他常常洗到最後半小時時，就頭痛不舒服，要求護士不要再洗了，護士就聼他的話提前結束。我問演講者這樣可以嗎？ 他說沒洗乾淨，毒素留在體内， 會讓病情更惡化。想到我們當時真是無知，應該先問醫生才對，不該讓護士就這樣提早結束。但一切已經太遲了。

下面這首 "Daddy You Can Let go Now" 也是婚禮上父親與女兒開舞的歌曲，影片最後幾張照片令我想到病床上的父親，不禁黯然。

今天晚上驚聞公公去世，心情很難過，雖然他老人家已經臥病多年，進出加護病房多次都幸逃死神魔手，大家也已經有某種程度的心理準備，但仍深感震驚，公公再過幾天就九十，算是高壽，在臺灣人的習俗可能還應該是紅帖，但還是很難想像生命力那麽堅韌的他真的會撒手歸去。
