大概在1985年，我第二次接觸西洋流行音樂，接下來的數年期間是我認為西洋流行音樂最輝煌燦爛的時期。Billboard、Cash Box、 ICRT每週日下午2點的American Top 40，歌手、樂團甚至配樂前仆後繼、源源不絕地呈現，真是滋味無窮的時光。那些流行音樂是西洋文化的一部分，甚至可說大部分是美國文化的一部分。

面對新冠疫情，馬雲的“One World, One Fight”、“Together We Can Do This”，幾個簡單的字說明了視野與胸襟。1985年有一盤據Billboard榜首4週的歌曲，展現出類似的視野與胸襟，只是數十年的物換星移，當今的情勢，美國還能挺身而出、引起共鳴嗎？
