A pile of white hair …
Is it?
I feel misty of eyes.

I cannot believe it.
I identify it carefully.
No mistake.
— A pile of white hair.

But, here and now, is it possible?
Still I cannot believe it.
I step forward to identify it carefully.
Still no mistake.
— A pile of white hair.

But, here and now, is it possible?
Still I cannot believe it.
I rub my eyes, and again I identify it carefully.
Still no mistake.
— A pile of white hair.

Identified for three times.
And I have to believe:
It is a pile of white hair.
Just now I must have been dim of eyes.
Alas, winter is here!
Suddenly I tremble under a spell of coldness …

Watching Snow at Advanced Age ~ Hsu ChiCheng ~Brilliant! I love this poem. I actually came close to tears reading it, with the feeling it evoked in me as I've experience my own unbelievable at times, winter of age. Just yesterday I was a child... thank you for sharing this poem which reminds me of one I once wrote:

THE YEARS THEY DO BEGUILE!

How on earth did this happen,
That this year I’ll be forty?

A month ago I was a child,
Carefree and wild!

A week ago I was a teen,
Alive and keen!

A day ago I met my lover,
Wife and mother!

And now I sit and ponder,
And now wonder!

Where did the years go?
I’m becoming old and slow!

My joyful youth gone by!
I wonder how and why?

What have I really achieved?
This age I’d not conceived!

The years that lie ahead,
Fill my thoughts with dread!

In my heart I’m still a child,
But the years, they do beguile!
