【Golden Words from Grand Master Sheng-Yen Lu】 His Holiness Living Buddha Sheng-Yen Lu Expounded the definition of 『 Vijnaptimatra (consciousness) 』?

Vijnaptimatra actually has the most consciousness of its own, it turn into superficial senses after transformation, that became the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind.

The six roots of sensations of conception of consciousness is the six types of functional sense organs.

It is to play the role of vision, sound, smell, taste, touch and thought, and is called the "six feelings/emotions"  and is also called "the six fields of the senses".

How should disciples overcome the six senses and the six feelings/emotions > the six feelings/emotions tie to one, concentrate and be diligent, thoughts are not scattered, which is also the concentration yoga of Kagyu Sect Mahamudra, there is no difference between the two.

The combination of consciousness and Prajna (wisdom), is what we called heart (mind).

Heart (mind) is consciousness, consciousness is heart. But both are intangible, and impossible to get it out, so how to cultivate?

Would need to cultivate from thoughts, to seek Prajna (wisdom) and Vijnaptimatra (conciousness), because one only be able to have concentration from human thoughts.


Chinese Version:

唯識其實祂有最深的意識,化出來又變成表面化的意識,就成了眼、耳、鼻、舌、身、意。

唯識學的六根是六種官能。

而在作用上是色聲香味觸法,是「六情」又是「六境」。

行者對六根六情當如何對治>六情繫於一處,專一精勤,意不散亂,就是白教大手印的專一瑜珈,二者沒有分別。

由識跟般若二者加起來,就是我們講的心。

心就是識識就是心。但兩者是無形,拿不出來,要怎麼去修呢?

要由人的念頭裡面,去尋找般若跟唯識,因為由人的念頭才能得到定。
