【Golden Words from Grand Master Sheng-Yen Lu】 His Holiness Living Buddha Sheng-Yen Lu Imparts the Teaching of How to 『Subdue』?

Those who are able to subdue own mind and heart, only be able to subdue others' heart/mind, cultivation is to subdue ownself.

There will be no ending if admonish/criticise when there is an argument.

Only endurance/toleration is able to end argument, is the superior of real dharma.

If encouter those who are ridiculous and harm, I will be 【sincere】 and 【forbearance】. Bad people is due to their karma.

Human nature consists of both good and evil, those with ten good karma will reborn as human, therefore human has the nature of goodness/kindness.

However, there is also bad karma such as greed, anger and ignorance, therefore in samsara (continual reptitive cycle of birth and death).

Therefore issue is a type of 【trouble】, but you will know that troubles are 【Bodhi】 after you discern and understand the nature of troubles/problems.

These are 【samyak-sambodhi (enlightenment)】【samyag-jnana (right knowledge) 】.

Therefore trouble is Bodhi.

Clouds do not hinder moon, mind is not severely confused, the philosophy of not being affected is 【liberal】.

There won't be any 【forbearance】 when everything is in 【equality】.

Chinese Version:

能降伏自心的人,別人的心才能降伏,修行即是降伏自己。

若以諍止諍,畢竟不得止。

唯忍能止諍,是法真尊上。

如遇到一些非理及加害,我祇有用【誠懇】和【忍辱】。壞人是因為他累世本身的業障所故。

人性本善惡兼具,凡生為人必由十善業來,因而人具有善根。

但亦有貪瞋痴的惡業,因此輪迴。

所以事本來就是一種【煩惱】,但是當你看清楚了那些煩惱以後,你會知道,那些都是【菩提】了。

都是【正覺】【正智】了。

因此煩惱即是菩提。

雲不礙月,心不顛倒,無礙哲學就是【自在】。

當【一律平等】的時候,【忍辱】也就化為無了。
