佩特班奈塔（Pat Benatar）堪稱是８０年代的搖滾女王

１９５３年初誕生於紐約的她是波蘭後裔

佩特從小就對音樂　劇院感興趣　並接受音樂課程

原本大學要學習古典樂　但１９歲那年她嫁給當時正在服兵役的男友Dennis Benatar　冠夫姓成為Patricia Benatar

佩特先在銀行工作　由於忘情不了音樂　１９７３年起便開始在夜店演唱

１９７４年還在一家小唱片公司出了生平第一張單曲（沒有成功）

１９７８年　佩特與Chrysails唱片簽約

１９７９年夏天發行單曲〔I Need A Lover〕

秋天發行第一張走硬式／流行搖滾樂風的大碟〔In The Heat of The Night〕

以第三主打〔Heartbreaker〕受到矚目

專輯也升到排行榜＃１２　成為白金唱片　讓佩特成為搖滾界的一顆新星

首支主打〔You Better Run〕並不成功（US＃４２）
９月時發行第二支主打
當時已有許多歌手開始在編曲加入電子合成樂器
不過佩特倒仍堅持原音呈現 並維持硬式搖滾味道
這首節奏活潑的流行搖滾相當熱情
佩特頗富撕烈性的嗓音頗為討巧 吉他演奏也很精彩
此曲登上美國流行榜＃９　銷售達到百萬金唱片

連帶也讓〔激情之罪／Crime Of Passion〕登上美國６週亞軍

長賣５００多萬張 　成為佩特最暢銷的作品
隔年並為她得到首座葛萊美搖滾女歌手
（Benatar包辦１９８０--１９８３連續四屆）

另外也在加拿大拿到＃１０　澳洲＃３３的成績

在琳達朗絲黛轉去唱經典老歌後　她很自然的繼承其搖滾女王的位置
