１９５４年成立於康乃狄克州的五緞（The Five Satins）是美國嘟哇合唱團

最初由六名成員組成，最終被削減為五名。

１９５６年２月，五緞推出單曲［In the Still of the Nite／在寂靜夜裡］（Standord, Ember發行）

由團員Fred Parris 創作

Marty Kugell製作成一首嘟哇(Doo-wop)／流行曲

五人合聲既和諧，又賦予繁複的層次感．

這首單曲在Ember 廠牌重新發行後只取得了中等的成功，

登上告示牌全國流行音樂排行榜（ational pop charts）＃２４

副榜R&B“種族”排行榜（R&B "race" charts）（後來Billboard 的R&B榜）則高居＃３

儘管首次發行時銷量不高，但多年來獲得大量的電台播放，成為最知名的doo-wop 歌曲之一，

並在《滾石》雜誌 “有史以來最偉大的 500 首歌曲”（２０１０年版）拿到第９０名。

［In the Still of the Night］是兩首可能被稱為“doo-wop”一詞起源的歌曲之一。 橋段中哀怨的 doo wop、doo wah 副歌經常被認為是描述該音樂流派的術語的起源。

另一首是頭巾樂隊（Turbans）的歌曲［When You Dance］，其中可以聽到“doo-wop”的歌聲。
