**** From The Back To God Hour----Today **** prayer is seeing God, not by the sight of our eyes, but by the understanding of our hearts. There is a sense in which " No one has ever seen God....." (John 1:18). yet there is another sense in which every Christian knows what it means to : Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in his wondergul face- and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of his glory and grace. God has revealed himself through Jesus Christ, so that through Him our hearts gain a new understanding of the works, the justice, the mercies, and the love of God. And blessed are the pure of heart, for they see God. Everything we ever hope a God might be, we see when we look at God as He is made known to us in Christ. The beauty of it is that when we want to see God, we never have far to look. Difficult times or pleasurable, He's always near (Acts 17:27, 28). But we must have clear vision, for not all eyes see God. He is visible only to the pure in heart. An evil heart has no vision of a holy God. What we see depents pretty much on the kind of eyes our hearts have; evil hearts have evil eyes. If God seems dim to you, most likely your heart needs a housecleaning. |
