第39首杜甫作  登岳陽樓

昔聞洞庭水，今上岳陽樓。吳楚東南坼，乾坤日夜浮。

親朋無一字，老病有孤舟。戎馬關山北，憑軒涕泗流。

39. Climbing Yueyang Tower (Du Fu)

Long have I heard of Dongting Lake;

Now I ascend the tower at Yueyang.

Her waters divide Wu from Chu in the southeast,

The universe of sun and moon upon their surface.

Not a word from family or friends,

Old and sick, on a solitary boat.

As the war rages on in the northern mountain passes,

Leaning from the balustrade, I cannot control my tears.

You ! Often seen at Prince Qis Palace, Heard in Cui-jius Chamber.

How is it, When flowers fall, We meet again, Amid these lovely southern scenes ?
