"討厭"

The other day I read a response from a classmate of mine in our LINE group; he, a successful businessman, made an expletive "討厭" to the statement by the British professor Martin Jacques on the rejuvenation of China.  Surprisingly, I saw the mayor of Keelung using the same expression the same day on TV when being asked what is his opinon toward PLA setting his city hall as one of the imaginary targets in a recent maneuver.

To the best of my knowledge,  "討厭" used as a exclamation or as a complement may sound kind of sissy to the listeners.  Dear islanders, are you always stuck for words to express what you are trying to say, except those of vulgarism or "文青式"?

Let me tell you, guys.  Meager usages of spoken words reflects a tell-tale sign of backwardness of Taiwan in every aspect.  Please take it seriously.

台灣小學(即民黨啟用並沿用的“小”)的語文課(即民黨啟用並沿用的“語”課)是非常失敗的。

BTW, I am curious about what Martin Jacques said.

Martin Jacques is the author of "When China rules the world". Then you may understand why my classmate, a diehard Taidu advocate, was so exasperated about what Jacques said which was circulating in LINE.
