婚宴

To participate the belated wedding reception of my nephew, the son of my youngest brother, was the main reason that four brothers of us got together at Hong Kong, and thus enabled us to have a precious opportunity visiting our aunt in Zhengzhou and our sister in the island.

My nephew and his newly-wed wife were all born in Canada; both of them were graduates from prestigious universities there, and now they are working in London, UK.  In the middle of the feast, they delivered some speeches expressing their gratitude to the presence of their close relatives and friends, and most of all to their parents.  My nephew could barely speak Madarin and Cantonese, so his wife acted as the interpreter.  Nevertheless, what he said were the most moving words of thanks I have ever heard of from a bridegroom.  The newly-wed couple ended the speeches with their faces bathed in tears.

Pursuant to the custom of Chinese wedding reception, the couple toasted to the guests table by table later on.  When getting to our table, my nephew started to chat with my another nephew, and then called my son in to join them.  Three cousins, young fellows all around 180 cm, stood there chatting and drinking beer merrily one another for about half an hour.  Though I could not fully understand what they were talking about, still I was proud of them.  Obviously, they all would have better future than we used to expect, and that was what I told my brothers after the feast.
