The "sanction" Trump administration imposed upon ZTE, probably later upon  Huawei, can be seen as an evil scheme that America is trying to snap Chinas rise in new technologies at the incipient stage before the cusp between the Big Two comes.

Its always the cruel reality, as Chairman Mao said, that in this international jungle "anyone who is lagging behind others in competion will be vulnerable to attack".  There is nothing China can do now except sparing no efforts to emulate or to surpass Ameica at the cutting edge of high tech, in her own right.  Chip?  No problem, make it a product of "cabbage price", somehow in the near future.
